The Best Accounting Firms to work for - 2008 (US)
Accounting Today announced results of its recent survey.
The big news is: None of The Big 4 companies deserves to be the best to work for!
Nearly 200 firms from across the country (US) applied and entered a two-part survey process, but ONLY 60 accounting firms have been honored as the Best Firms to Work For by Accounting Today.

KPMG - Rank 8
Ernst&Young - Rank 14
What makes an accounting firm a great employer? Is it exceptional benefits? Flex time? Opportunities for advancement?
As you might expect, the tactics that make for success vary from firm to firm; however, one value underlies them all - a genuine "people-first" attitude.

I agree with you that Big4 has a blue ocean comparing to smaller companies. BUT, according to Accounting Today's report, the "Best to work for" firm is Kaufman, Rossing & Co. (across large firms). The report was not targeted of quality of client service, but on quality of life and environment for employees. And unfortunately, Big 4 have some room for improvement in theses areas, don't you agree?
I used to be an employee of Ernst & Young and man, it wasn't a good place to work by a long shot! I was staring at the computer screens for almost 10 hours a day and used to get terrible migranes because of it.
I just got offers from KPMG and Deloitte. Does anyone have any idea where I can go to find out more about which firm is best for me? like any forums that firm employees might go to?
